Back in late July, we packed up our family of four and headed for our annual summer vacation in Somers Point, NJ, to visit my (Lacey's) Grammy. Eliza Hope was just five weeks old and slept virtually the entire 8-hour trip! Susannah is an excellent little traveler, watching DVD's and listening to music. She's also into travel games such as finding letters on road signs and spotting colors. Such a fun stage it is!
My Aunt Joni and her two daughters Chanel and Lisette live nearby, as does my Uncle Sam and his wife Susan. My Aunt Holly was able to come down from her PA home for the weekend, my brother Seth and Mom came from VA, and Jenna and her family of four made it, as well. Grammy's W. Wilmont Avenue house was chock full of family members...and CHAOS since four children 3 and under were there! We spent four lovely days in near-constant motion trying to meet little needs. Not exactly a restful time for anyone, but we are grateful for treasured memories made. What joy to see so many generations together under one roof developing relationships and savoring the time we have. Days at the beach, evenings of simple fun meals, a visit to the Ocean City Boardwalk complete with a few rides for the "big girls," and a family gathering and cook-out at Uncle Sam and Susan's pool...what more could we ask for???!!! Perhaps the best part of the entire trip was sharing with Susannah the experiences I had as child visiting Grammy and Grampy in that very same house. Thirty-three years and counting for me!
