*In Costco for dinner, Susannah walked by and touched the bench of a table occupied by a lone elderly man. He invited her to come sit with him & she responded, "I'm just eating with my family."
After Costco, we approached home & upon being told she'd get ready for bed ASAP, she replied, "I want Mommy to take me upstairs and put on my piggy jammies and Daddy just stay downstairs and clean the dishes." :o)
*At breakfast, Susannah took a sip of milk, looked up, pointed to her upper lip & said, "Look at me! I have a milk mustard!" (mustache)
*Today, we had to spank Susannah for hitting Mommy. She cried, then ran & shut herself in her closet where she cried a bit more. When she was calm, I asked, "Are you ready to come snuggle & talk about why you got a spanking?" Came a whimpery reply from inside the closet, "Not yet. I'm still a little bit hurting."

*While rocking & praying for our new baby, Susannah said, "Mommy, I have a baby in my uterus, too! He's gonna get bigger and bigger and when he comes out, he's gonna drink milk from my nipples!"

* Cried before rocking at bedtime the other night. When she finally calmed down, she held out her hand and said, "Mommy, you wipe my hand please. There's crying on it." (!!!!!!!)
* Every time we hear music in a restaurant or a store, her eyes get huge and she announces, "I hear Christmas muz-get!" (music)

*Susannah was playing with her stuffed nativity tonight. When the wisemen arrived at the stable, they sang "Happy Birthday" to baby Jesus. Then one of the wisemen leaned over and asked the baby, "You want some cake?!?" Later a wiseman asked Joseph, "You wanna play hide and seek in the woods?"

*We saw the UPS truck while out walking near our neighborhood today. Susannah pointed and said, "That has Mommy's medicine for the baby growing in the uterus!"
*Everything is "my _________" when she's talking about family members or "lovies".
*Signed "raking" to refer to her friend Reagan (they sound the same!).
*Out for dinner to CPK with Grammy and Grandpa. The waitress asked if we were done eating and if we were ready for dessert. Susannah immediately and confidently responded, "I need some ice cream, please!"
*At Dr. Williams' office for our first ultrasound, Susannah looked intently at the "blob" on the screen and then picked up Mommy's shirt, saying "I wanna see that baby now!"

*Susannah was cold upon getting out of a bath. Daddy told her, "We'll get you into some warm jammies." Susannah immediately added, "Sasi need legwarmers!"

*While praying one night, Mommy prompted Susannah, "Thank You, God, for..." After a few seconds, she piped up, "Stink bugs on the windows!"
*While shopping for a bridesmaid's dress for Mommy's brother's wedding, Susannah watch her try on her dress. She was incredibly interested, then asked if she could try on a "fancy big-girl dress." We found a flower girl dress and as she pulled it up over her diaper-only body, she matter of factly states, "Sasi's gonna need a bwa." (bra)
*Ran into the kitchen the other night to announce confidently, "Sasi's not stinky, Mommy!" Guilty, anyone?!?
*Before leaving for Kroger tonight with Daddy and Rylie, Susannah signed, "I Love You" while saying, "I love you to Kroger, Mommy!"

*From the bathroom: "Susannah's sitting on the blue potty waiting for the pee-pee to come out of hiney!"
*A lunch conversation:
Susannah: "Sasi sees a squirrel, Mommy!"
Mommy: "Yes, I see the squirrel. He's sniffing around for his lunch. He's hungry."
Susannah: "Squirrel hungry."
Mommy: "What do you think he's eating?"
Susannah: "Squirrel food!"
*While watching Daddy get undressed for a shower, Susannah shouts "Daddy have panties. Daddy take off the panties."
*During prayers for bed - "Pray for Sophie. Sophie's a sweet girl., Mommy."
*Uses the word "just" all the time, i.e. "No poo-poo, just pee-pee" or "No watermelon, just chocolate."
*Has memorized "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and sings at top of her lungs regularly.
* While rocking before a nap, Mommy tells Susannah "I'm going on a retreat to spend time with Jesus." Susannah thinks about this a bit before responding, "Mommy's gonna have lunch with Jesus!"
*While we were pulling husks off corn for dinner, Mommy was labeling the parts (husk, silk, etc.). I then told her, "That's an ear of corn." She examined the corn closely, pointed to the kernels, and said "That's corn's eyes, Mommy!"
7/14/10 - What kind of pigs?
Daddy was talking with Susannah about the next day's plans. We were talking about going to a pet store and discussed all kinds of animals we would see. We would see rabbits, puppies, birds, lizards, spiders, and guinea pigs. Susannah echoed each animal name correctly until she got to last one, which she thought about and finally said...."Skinny pigs!!!" (Guinea Pigs)
6/24/10 - Daddy's Birthday (Part 1)
Mommy: "How old is Daddy?"
Susannah: "Daddy will be 2!"

Later that day, while making Daddy's birthday cake, Susannah suddenly shouted, "Put wormies on Daddy cake! Candles, fire on Daddy's cake!" (Elaboration: Susannah had gummi worms on her Dirt Cake for her ladybug birthday party a few weeks earlier. As for the fire comments, we can only hope she isn't a budding pyro!)
6/19/10 - Lunch time
At lunch today, Susannah climbed into her tower and fumbled through food items on the counter. She found the remains of a Hershey bar and unwrapped it. Mommy asked her, "What would you like for lunch?"
Susannah replied matter-of-factly, "Chocolate!"
6/3/10 - Broken window
During a strong storm tonight, the bottom half of one of our dining room windows blew out. When Susannah saw the broken window, she said, "Daddy fix it. Need new batteries window!"
6/1/10 - Skinned Knees and Bedtime Prayers
-Susannah fell out of her chair while coloring at her kiddie table. She stood up and immediately checked her knees! (She had skinned them both a few weeks ago, so she was well prepared!)
- While rocking to sleep, Mommy and Susannah to her Bible music CD (Steve Green). A song mentioning "Jesus Christ" came on and as the intro played, Susannah looked up at me and signed "Jesus Cries."

- At Klines, our favorite ice cream stop, they have a huge gumball machine. Susannah asks, "Mommy get a gubble bum!"
- Mommy asks, "Susannah, do you think Mommy's baby is a girl or a boy?"
Susannah's reply? "Puhtin oatmeal!" (Pumpkin oatmeal)
- One night at dinner, while eating mixed veggies for dinner, room was needed on Susannah's plate for some chicken, so Mommy moved two pieces of green beans off the plate onto her high chair tray. She explained, "Mommy is moving green beans." Susannah looks at carrot pieces and says, "Mommy move orange green beans."
5/10/10 - Peekaboo!
Sasi decides to play peekaboo. She covers her face with her hands and says "Sasi lost! Mommy, Daddy, find Sasi in plant!" After we make a big hullabaloo about not finding her in the plant, she suggest "look out window!" while her face is still "buried" in her hands (she's peeking through the whole time). After another "failure" of not finding Susannah, she finally pulls back her hands to "reveal" where she was hiding the whole time and screams with delight at the top of her hands.
5/7/10 - New body part?
Susannah touches Mommy's elbow and says, "Mommy's Elmo!"
5/6/10 - Prayer of a child
As we usually do before each meal, we said a prayer. Mommy starts, "Thank you God for..."
Susannah, while pointing at us: "Mommy, Daddy, Lacey, Harry!!!"
4/2010 - Various comments
- Rylie and Missy (a friend's dog) greeted each other in typical doggie fashion (i.e. sniffing butts) while Susannah was eating breakfast. She watched intently and happily announced, "Rylie, Missy, sniffing bellybuttons!"
- While holding some daffodils up to the sky, Susannah shouted, "hat moon...lookat daffodeels." (Translation: Hey, half moon up there, look at the daffodils!"
- We had moved some large pots inside the kitchen for one night because of a frost possibility. Susannah wanted to get to her tower that she has in the kitchen (to reach the counter), but the pots were in her way. So she politely asked, "Scuse us, pwants. Towa! (tower)" When the plants didn't move/respond, Susannah raised her voice and asked again!
- While putting Susannah to bed, Mommy asked her, "What happy things will you dream about tonight?"
Susannah thought about it, sighed, and responded confidently, "Grandpa. Dweam Grandpa."
- On a walk around the block, Susannah noticed beautiful white blooms on a bush. As she sniffed them Mommy told her, "That's a type of hydrangea. Can you say 'hydrangea'?"
Susannah waved at the bush and politely said, "Hi, drangea!"
- After dinner one night, Daddy signed numbers to Susannah which she voiced back. "1, 2, 3, 4...." When Daddy signed the number "20," Susannah voiced "Birdie!" (they are identical signs)
- "Nexta you" when she wants to sit next to one of us on a rocking chair to read a book/watch a movie.
- "Snuggle on shoulder" is what she says when she wants to cuddle.
- One Friday night really late (about 11:30 p.m.), a voice came singing out of Susannah's room "Itsy spida, uppa watta spout. Down came a rain, washa spida out! Uppa sun... (garbled) up rain. Itsy spida uppa watta spout!"

- One afternoon, when Daddy gave Susannah two goldfish crackers, Susannah said, "Daddy give you two ones!"
